It runs in the background & records the time you've been logged on to your computer, as well as the time each user is actively using the computer. If you are timing a project on your computer when you are distracted by something else and forget to pause the stopwatch, the "active time' feature comes in very handy. The stopwatch will still show you the time you were actively working on the project, it will automatically pause when you stop using your computer.
