of their own. An original door has its own history
and lore. If you look at one of these doors, you can
get a sense of their history throughout the years.
Was the door used to keep people inside or prevent
others from entering? One of the primary problems with
wrought iron doors is that they often get rusty.
Painting is one way to overcome this problem and make
sure the door matches the home's trim. If you choose
this route, there are certain things you will have to
do before you start to paint. If your door already has
rust on in, you cannot simply paint over it. The rust
must be removed to avoid having your new paint develop
bubbles and then peel off. Unless you remove the
rust, you're going to have an uneven surface that,
when painted, does not allow for an even, attractive
finish.
