Achroma allows you to use standard graphics plug-ins
from Visual Basic. Plug-ins may perform visual
effects, write images to disk or read images from
disk. For example you might use a plugin to do any of
the following - distort an image to make it look as if
it was spiraling down a plug-hole; make an image look
like a watercolor; export an image as a GIF; read an
image saved as a BitJazz file (a lossless compression
format).
Achroma is compatible with plugins written for Adobe
Photoshop, JASC PaintShop Pro, Corel PhotoPaint,
Macromedia Fireworks, Microsoft PhotoDraw 2000 and
many other graphics applications. There are a wide
variety of plug-in manufacturers producing an
extremely wide range of excellent software at a varied
range of prices. Most plug-in creators provide
demonstration copies of their software for evaluation
purposes and many provide free plug-ins as well as
more commercially oriented ones. See our web site for

Achroma is an ActiveX control. This means that it
integrates perfectly with Visual Basic. However you
can also use it from scripting languages like VBScript
and JScript, from Java, C++ or a variety of other
ActiveX compatible environments. Achroma is written in
C/C++ under ATL for minimal dependencies and a small
footprint.
