NTUser/X
-
Version
1.00.006
NTUser/X is a collection of COM objects that gives you
the ability to perform administrative tasks on a local
or remote Windows NT server -- managing users, local
groups, global groups, and modal information. Users
and groups can be added, modified or even deleted from
the server (if your program has the security
privileges to do so). Using NTUser/X is about as easy
as using a Collection object or a list box.
NTUser/X uses Windows NT security. Network
administrators do not need to worry about programs
using NTUser/X -- applications using NTUser/X cannot
do anything for which they do not have privileges.
NTUser/X provides convenient access to the users in
the security database. Each user or application that
accesses resources must have an account in the
security database. This access allows you to view and
modify properties associated with a user, such as the
user name, full name, password, logon server, account
access, maximum storage allotted, etc. The Password
property is write-only and cannot be read by any
programs using NTUser/X. Properties that modify user
privileges are only modifiable if the program running
has the privileges required.
Additionally, NTUser/X gives your programs the ability
to manage local and global groups on the server. You
can add or remove groups, change the membership list,
or modify the attributes for the group.
Your application can also change the general security
behavior for a server through its modal attributes.
Modal attributes include requirements for password
length and age, security protection for failed
password attempts, primary logon server, and security
account manager (SAM) information.
If your software needs to list, view, edit, or create
users or groups on Windows NT, NTUser/X is the
solution.
