LED Lighting  -  Version  V2 LED Lighting Central. Here and Now. LED Lighting has been a leader in a shift to cleaner, greener lighting. Several years ago it was proposed to use light emitting diodes to replace conventional lights which would in turn enormously reduce energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions. Prince Charles of the English Royal Family agreed to have the Palace installed with this emerging technology which redefined the century-old conception of lighting. Studies suggest that carbon dioxide emissions from electric power used in lighting applications could decrease by half in about 20 years if a complete conversion was made to new technologies. In the United States 6 percent of energy used is for lighting. This potentially makes LED lighting the most cost effective and beneficial technology to help combat global warming as minimal heat is produced by the physical bulb and dramatic reduction in power consumption.
