Traditional treatments listed in the table below
include benzoyl peroxide, Salicylic acid, Sulfur,
Azelaic Acid, oral antibiotics (Clindamycin,
Tetracycline, Meclocycline, Erythromycin, and
isotretinoin or retinoic-acid products (Adapalene,
Tretinoin).
Benzoyl peroxide (bleaches hair & clothing), Salicylic
acid, Sulfur, and Azelaic Acid are all harsh on the
skin and can cause irritation. Poor results and side
effects cause many acne sufferers to abort these dated
approaches. Oral antibiotics are a worry because of
bacterial resistance, discolored teeth or skin,
digestive upset, sun sensitivity, and interference
with other medications. Isotretinoin compounds can
cause serious
health problems, ranging from sun sensitivity, skin
disorders, serious birth defects, and nausea to vision
irregularities, depression, and even suicide.
