Version
1.2
OutBack is an electronic in/out board that allows
everyone, and especially the telephone switchboard
operator, to know where everyone else is. This makes
it possible to give better information to callers and
to avoid putting telephone calls through to employees
who aren't at their desks.
OutBack also reduces wasted time when an employee
needs to find a co-worker to talk to him/her. With
OutBack you always know "who's Out and who's Back"!
Notification of absence is VERY simple and fast,
ensuring that the program will actually be used
consistently. A simple "away from my desk"
notification requires only one keystroke, even if
OutBack is not the current program.
Optional integration with the Alcatel 4400 PBX is
available, making OutBack the telephone switchboard
operator's dream come true. Attempting to route a call
to an employee who is not at his/her desk provides the
operator with an automatic notification of the
employee's OutBack status.
OutBack includes many other facilities, for example
the ability to send SMS messages to mobile telephones,
an "instant messaging" system among the users, the
ability to send e-mails or telephone form messages
("while you where away"), and the ability to place
an "alert" on a coworker so you are notified when
he/she changes his/her status.
OutBack is a true client-server program, resulting in
instant updates and minimal network loading.
OutBack integrates with Microsoft Exchange Server,
Lotus Domino or other LDAP directories to minimize
administration.
