validity of the supplied VAT registration number with
the European VAT Number Information Exchange System
(VIES) database, and if the number is valid, acquires
the registrant VAT information, which it then makes
available to the eCommerce website using it. The
software is able to acquire the information in any of
the recognized European languages, as well as obtain a
Consultation Reference Number if required. Since all
information is obtained immediately from the VIES
database, it is guaranteed to always be the latest and
