  Setup Builder  -  Version  5.04

Setup Builder is supplied as a 16 and 32-bit application in one product. It runs under Windows 3.1, Windows 95 and Windows NT and it creates and maintains Windows Hosted installation procedures. It is designed for developers who wish to provide that 'professional' touch to the installation of their software. The interpreter part of the product can also be used to run Windows Hosted DOS-like batch files using the script language supported. Forget about distributing Microsoft's 0.5 Mb offering just to install a 100-200K executable! This product uses less than 300K of diskette space and is highly tailorable and doesn't require the user to get involved with C/C++, DLL's or Visual Basic in order to create install disks. Setup Builder is not 'tied' into any one development tool: it can be used with any development tool you may choose. Setup Builder operates around a familiar VB-Style point and click interface to provide a very quick and easy way to build installations. The product can create very sophisticated installations because it gives the ability to insert user-defined script - it supports a complete script language. You do not need to write any script for standard installs. Setup Builder supports all of the standard installer features and much more. Unlike many other installers, Setup Builder is very well behaved, particularly in the areas of re-installs and de-installs: it properly maintains shared files and OLE registered controls. Setup Builder can now create multi-language installations which automatically appear in the language that the machine is configured for. This support is currently limited to English, French, German, Dutch, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese. Given a Visual Basic .MAK or .VBP project file, Setup Builder can read that file and build a complete installation procedure from it including all the dependent files. New features in this version include the ability to be able to install files depending on the operating system running, the ability to create installation logs, the ability to create installations for CD ROMs with the Windows AutoPlay feature enabled and the ability to replace 'in-use' files. There really are too many features to list here.
