This is a ranking system set by alexa.com (a
subsidiary of amazon.com) that ultimately audits and
makes public the frequency of visits on various Web
sites. The algorithm as outlined by which Alexa
traffic ranking is calculated, is easy. It can be
depending on the degree of traffic recorded from users
who have the Alexa toolbar installed over a period of
11 weeks.
This traffic is determined by such parameters as reach
and page views. The reach means the volume of Alexa
users who visit a certain site within a day. Page
view, as its name shows, is the quantity of times an
individual page (URL) is viewed by Alexa users.
Alexa.com helps it be clear though that, in case your
particular user visits a similar URL multiple times on
the same day, hundreds of visits is going to be
counted as one.
