Debg
-
Version
2.1
This program can be used to read and edit binary
files
(like debug.com) for several operating systems
including DOS/Windows, UNIX, Linux, Tandem, etc. If
you want to read the contents of a binary file for
any reason, you can't use your text editor or word
processor to do this, but you can use DEBG.
This can be handy for files that don't have
extensions
(you don't know what kind of file it is),
general troubleshooting, in image processing, or it
may be quicker to use this program instead
of your normal text editor in some cases.
If you have ever tried the UNIX od program or DOS
debug.com, you will find this program to be
much better in several areas. The current version of
DEBG will let you edit files up to 5 MB
in size (640K is the current limit in DOS). The UNIX
od program is awkward to use and it lacks
many features that DEBG offers. The DEBG program
will
allow you to use ONE DEBG interface
on different operating systems (so you won't have to
learn a new interface for each platform
that you are on).
