SocketWrench Freeware Edition
-
Version
3.6
SocketWrench 3.6 Freeware Edition is a general
purpose package that simplifies Windows Sockets
programming. For developers new to Internet software
development, SocketWrench greatly reduces the
learning curve typically associated with socket
programming and TCP/IP in general. With packages
available for both 16-bit and 32-bit platforms,
SocketWrench is designed to meet the needs of
developers writing software for all versions of
Windows. The SocketWrench components are available as
16-bit Visual Basic controls (VBXs) as well as 16-bit
and 32-bit ActiveX controls (OCXs) and can be used in
a wide variety of development languages. The Windows
Sockets control included in the SocketWrench 3.6
Freeware Edition package gives you all of the
functionality you need to write both client and
server applications. Unlike other packages which
provide client-only services, or require you to learn
how to use two (or more) controls, you can build
virtually any type of application with SocketWrench
using either the TCP or UDP protocols. Included with
the SocketWrench package is a Remote Access Services
(RAS) dialer control. This component allows you to
easily manage dial-up networking sessions under
Windows 95 or Windows NT directly from within your
application. Instead of depending on the autodial
feature, you can take direct control of the session
(including determining if a dial-up networking
session is already active and monitor the connection
status). The SocketWrench package is completely free,
and may be used to create freeware, shareware or
commercial software packages without any runtime
licensing fees or royalties.
