The Automated Photo Line Up System - Version 1.2.8 A researcher and expert in the area of eyewitness testimony and identification originally developed TAPS. The program incorporates all of the recommended Lineup-Identification procedures recognized by the American Psychology-Law Society and presented to the U.S. National Justice Institute's Technical Working Group on Eyewitness Evidence. Constructs Line-Ups using one of three strategies chosen by the user. Presents lineups either sequentially or simultaneously. Records the presentation on disk for later viewing if desired. The program can be modified to work in conjunction with existing databases of digitized pictures and descriptions, and can be customized for specific installations. For the Witness/Victim viewer there is now available Voice instructions and commands for those who may not be computer literate for ease of use (to utilize the Voice features you must have a Text to Speech and Voice Recognition Engine installed). Ongoing research will continue to contribute to the evolution of subsequent TAPS versions. Educational/Research versions are available at a reducted pricing.
