On This Day - Version 2.18 Did you know that Children's Day is the Second Sunday in June? Or that November is Aviation History Month? Or that Willard Scott (NBC's "birthday boy") was born on March 7th, 1934? Or that Confucius was born August 27the 551 BC? On This Day knows all this and much more. On This Day is an event database printing program. Tell On This Day the date in which you're interested and it will read a group of databases, formatting and printing the data for that date. Since the databases are simply text files and the format is completely documented, you can make changes and additions using your favorite text editor or word processor. On This Day will also read an additional database (if it exists) so you can enter all your own personal events, birthdays, etc. into a separate file. On This Day can handle dates in the Gregorian, Hebrew, Islamic, and Julian calendars. This makes it possible to specify Jewish and Muslim holidays as well as the ones expressed in dates in the calendar many of us use every day. On This Day can determine what day of the week the requested date falls. This enables you to specify holidays like Memorial Day (in the US), which is the last Monday in May. On This Day calculates the date for Easter on the year requested, allowing you to specify all the Christian holidays. On This Day calculates the phases of the moon, solstices, and equinoxes. It also flags lunar eclipses. Perhaps best of all, On This Day comes with a collection of data ready to use in the program. The retail version comes with a collection of MUCH larger databases, a quotation database and display program, a collection of utilities we've found useful, and more. The evaluation version is nearly identical to the retail version, but is missing many of the benefits above, both to keep the size of the file to a minimum as well as providing an incentive to purchase the retail version.
