ShellRun is a Windows 95/98/Me/NT4/2000/XP program to
open a document. It is primarily useful if you want
a
CD-ROM to AutoPlay a document, eg open an HTML web
page file, PDF Adobe Acrobat Reader file or play an
MP3 track. It can also be used at a command line
prompt to open any document. ShellRun only works in
Windows computers, eg it does not work in Apple Mac
computers.
ShellRun displays a small pop-up window and then
attempts to open a filename, ie run the viewer
program
that is associated with the filename extension. The
retail version of ShellRun lets you customise or
remove the pop-up window.
Although the Windows start command can be used to
AutoPlay a web page, ShellRun works in all command
shell environments and does not display an annoying
DOS box window.
Note that not all users have AutoPlay enabled on
their
computer, so always include instructions on how to
use
the CD manually. If applicable, these instructions
should also cover use by non-Windows users.
