Faster and more flexible alternative to the Windows
UI, highly customisable through the use of skins.
Equinox provides a graphically-rich desktop, and
allows you to easily add your own buttons and
pictures. You can also look forward to animated
backgrounds, the ability to change the layout of your
desktop as you see fit, adding new buttons and menus,
and other visual goodies. A. web browser and FTP
client, Security and networking is also included. The
Equinox interface supports "skinning," which is a
method of customising the overall appearance of your
desktop based on a theme. Skins for Equinox can be
made by anyone and are available to download from the
Cintel Skins page, or using Cintel Skin Manager.
Equinox, not only provides the most functional shell
interface for our users, but also an increase in your
overall system performance. Our new file manager,
Invenio is supplied as the default file manager for
Equinox, which provides many features such as file
and folder encryption and backup.
Equinox gives administrators complete access to
user's rights and privileges, with the ability to
change users' settings, block access to specific
files, and control what actions within Equinox itself
can be performed. Remote network login allows users'
environments to be identical regardless of which
computer they log-on from. All network traffic
between connected clients is transparently encrypted
by default, ensuring the confidentially of
information sent between computers around the world.
Equinox is ideally suited to real-world environments
that require clients and servers to be in distant
locations in relation to each other. Users' passwords
can be edited and their environments controlled
depending on the level of trust they are allocated.
Since actions such as viewing the options window, or
shutting-down the computer are all controlled by the
administrator, any of the above can be disabled to
prevent the user from carrying-out that operation.
