CyberSoft PhileSplitter 2003
-
Version
4.0
Have you ever had a large file that you have wanted
to back up onto floppy disks, CDs or Zip disks, copy
to another computer, email to someone who’s email box
is not large enough to hold the file or distribute
reliably over the Internet? PhileSplitter allows you
to split a file into a number of smaller pieces which
can later be re-assembled to make the original
file.
Suppose you wanted to distribute a large file over
the Internet. If something goes wrong, the user loses
everything they've downloaded so far. Most people do
not have file resumers, plus these are incompatible
with many servers. Using PhileSplitter you can split
the file into small pieces and generate a script that
will re-assemble the file once the user has downloaded
all the pieces. PhileSplitter will even generate a web
page for people to download and decompress these
pieces if you want it to!
Using PhileSplitter you can split to a folder on
your hard disk or span across floppies, CDs or Zip
disks. You can split just a single file (very large
file sizes are supported, up to 800 TB is supported in
theory!) or split groups of files and folders.
PhileSplitter has it's own built in CAB compression
and encryption if you wish to use them to save time
switching between programs.
Other features include cancelling operations part
way to resume later, improved progress bars with
estimated time remaining, piece sizes between 10 KB
and 4 GB supported and shell extensions.
PhileSplitter 2003 now comes with plug-in support,
and a variety of expansions will be available in the
future to enhance the software. This will include new
script generators to support assembly under a variety
of different operating systems (MS-DOS and Windows
script generation is included as standard). It has a
very easy to use wizard-based interface, complete with
online help.
