The Abacus - Version 3.0 Use the Abacus to count lines in any MS Word document. The Abacus will count gross lines, lines as a number of characters per line, or lines in a highlighted portion of text. It will then record the line counts in a log file which the Abacus can then use to create an invoice. The program offers many counting options, including characters that are bold, italicized, underlined, or shifted; headers and footers; footnotes and endnotes; and textboxes. It will also let you count lines in a single document or in a group of documents, such as (but not limited to) an entire directory. The Abacus is a Word add-in program which works from inside Word. It is not a free standing program, but rather one that starts when Word starts, works with Word, and becomes a part of your Word environment, like a macro or add-in dictionary. This is a trial version of the Abacus which you may use as long as you like. However it does contain a few limitations, such as "nag" messages in your log file, and registration reminder screens. You can purchase the Abacus for only $20 (single user license), and we have a site license schedule available for large groups who need multiple licenses.
