Survival Gear - Version 1.0 What survival gear your bug out bag contains is dependent upon what you are going to be doing and under what circumstances you will need to use it. A car survival kit will be different than a wilderness survival kit. For example you may want a means to break windows or cut a seat belt for a car survival kit. For a wilderness survival kit you will need at the very least a means of starting a fire, preferably 3 different methods, and a source of drinking water of 2 liters per day per person. Food in the form of some energy bars will help you keep your spirits up but are not absolutely essential. If you have a source for water and a container you can heat it up in you can boil it to make it safe to drink. Other options include iodine tablets or a sawyer water bottle filter systems designed to remove microorganisms.
