CP_Tuner 2000 - Version 1.2 CP-TUNER 2000 for Windows 95 and Windows NT Code Page Tuner is designed to convert text files containing Russian characters between code page formats of KOI-8, DOS, Macintosh, and Windows. During the transmission via electronic mail system Russian text may get corrupted, and the addressee won’t be able to read the received message. The CP_Tuner 2000 program will allow to convert corrupted messages into its readable format. CP-Tuner 2000 detects up to 9000 different decode schemes. CP_Tuner 2000 is designed to operate in a Standalone or Embedded modes. In the Embedded mode CP_Tuner 2000 functions within the environment of the Microsoft Word 95/97, Microsoft Exchange Client and Outlook 2000 for Windows95. Features: Built-in editor in which you can load the corrupted message and restore its original. Messages can be sent to CP-Tuner 2000 Editor via Clipboard and used as text files. The extension module for Microsoft Exchange Client to restore corrupted messages directly within Exchange. (The Exchange menu will contain corresponding commands) The extension module for Microsoft Word 95/97 which will insert corresponding commands to restore corrupted messages into MS Word menu. Code Page is an internal table that the operating system uses to relate the keys on a keyboard to the characters displayed on the screen (fonts). Different code pages provide support for the character sets and keyboard layouts used for different languages and various locales. For example, to support Russian characters DOS uses (Code Page) CP= 866, Windows uses CP = 1251, Macintosh uses CP = 10007 and UNIX uses CP = KOI-8. In addition to all these code tables the new international standard called UNICODE is now being used by some new operating systems. In order to safely pass 8-bit data (Cyrillic characters) via communication links and networks capable of handling only 7-bit encoded characters, an encoding/decoding method called UU-coding has been created. This method is based on generation of four 7-bit characters for every three 8-bit encoded characters.
