The game is played with 2 decks, and begins with 40 cards dealt into 10 piles of 4 cards each. The piles are built down by suit, and the 8 foundations must be built up from Ace to King by suit for the player to win the game. Single Pass Napoleon at Saint Helena is the most challenging version of the game, only allowing the player to pass through the deck a single time.
